  • Poker Ride 2013, Sunday, October 6 Southern Comfort held its 7th Poker Ride on Horseback on Sunday, October, at Eagle Island State Park, Eagle. The day was gorgeous; over 150 riders from all over the Treasure Valley came and rode the Poker route. Club members worked extremely hard again this year and the event was most successful. A portion of the proceeds, $1500.00 was donated to the Idaho Humane Society Rescue Ranch. In addition, $500.00 was donated to FOSH, Friends of Sound Horses. Thanks to Shawnda Kasma, Ways and Means Chairman, for this event.

    Southern Comfort held its 6th Poker Ride on Horseback on Saturday, October 7, at Eagle Island State Park, Eagle. The day was gorgeous; over 190 riders from all over the Treasure Valley came and rode the Poker route. Club members worked extremely hard this year and the event was most successful. A portion of the proceeds, $1500.00 was donated to the Idaho Humane Society Rescue Ranch. In addition, $500.00 was donated to FOSH, Friends of Sound Horses.   • Poker Ride 2011, Saturday, October 1 Southern Comfort held its 5th Poker Ride on Horseback on Saturday, October 1, at Eagle Island State Park, Eagle. The day was gorgeous; riders from all over the Treasure Valley came and rode the Poker route. The club members hard work paid off providing contributions from area businesses for the raffle.   • Poker Ride 2010, Saturday, October 2 Southern Comfort held its 4th Poker Ride on Horseback on Saturday, October 2, at Eagle Island State Park, Eagle. The day was sunny, a bit warm, but 37 riders came and rode the Poker route.  The club members worked extremely hard and asked and received many contributions and certificates for the raffle.  This Poker Ride on Horseback was the most successful so far and the club is looking forward to having the event next fall.  Thanks to Dottie Green, Ways and Means Chairman, for this event.  Look for Photos in the Photo Gallery.

    The 4th Annual Playday was on Saturday, November 2 at Al Birt Arena, Nampa. This was an Open Horse Show to include Gaited Horse Classes, Rail, Western, English, Gymkhana and Extreme Trail Obstacle. It was open to all age groups. Boots were required, no show clothes necessary. Judge was Nya Bates. There was a timed Extreme Trail Course with director-Judi Daniels. Thanks to Nya Bates, education and show chairman, for organizing the event again this year.

This was an Open Horse Show to include Gaited Horse Classes, Rail, Western, English, Gymkhana and Extreme Trail Obstacle. It was open to all age groups. Boots were required, no show clothes necessary. Judges were Nya Bates and Lawrance Valdez. There was an Extreme Trail Course & Game with director-Judi Daniels and several 4-H volunteers to help. Thanks to Nya Bates, education and show chairman, for organizing the event again this year.

The 4-H group provided wonderful food during the day. Everyone had a fun day.

  • Saturday, Oct 30 – Fall PLAYDAY The first Playday for Southern Comfort was held Saturday, October 30 at Al Birt Arena in Nampa. The week before the event was cold but the rain held off for Saturday. Manys riders came and registered for the classes. Thanks to all the members who rode and those who helped. And a SPECIAL thank you to the 4-H members who helped everyone. Thank you also to Nya Bates who worked tirelessly to set up the day and Lori Moore for sponsoring the arena for the day.
